The Fairmont Hotel, built between 1973 and 1975, occupies a dedicated plot adjacent to the Monaco harbour and Grand Prix circuit.

Due to a busy internal workload WME (now part of the EGIS Group) contacted VJA Consultancy to provide additional Mechanical and Electrical support validating a Condition Survey carried out by others.

The 3-day survey looked at the Hotels infrastructure and commented on a prototype of their new rooms.

Project Challenges

  • Surveying within a busy prestigious hotel without causing any disruption.
  • Overcoming the language barriers.
  • Building Trust with the FMC Stakeholders.
  • Working within areas under Construction.
  • Understanding the evolution of the Buildings infra-structure.

The scope involved a non-intrusive visual survey of the mechanical, electrical and public health services at the Fairmont Grand Hotel, Monte Carlo in order to provide the client with:

  • An informed response to the Building Survey Report.
  • A general overview of the building wide MEP systems over and above the Building Survey Report.
  • Recommendations concerning the MEP scope of works for the programmed room refurbishment works.
  • Providing a specification for the specialist validation surveys and testing.

The site is a 7 level Hotel with a main entrance at level 2 housing the reception, bar, restaurant, Casino and shopping area. The basement area houses the main Plantrooms, generator and switch room areas.  The services area is accessed from the Grand prix circuit tunnel.

The roof area currently has a gym / swimming pool facility and is to be reviewed for an additional second pool area.

Other levels house the guest bedrooms.
